I had one of those experiences this past week. On Monday morning, I left early for a monthly trip to my corporate office in Chicago. Tony Gutierrez picked me up at my home and when I entered his car I again commented on how much I enjoyed riding with him because he always has the best music playing. It was then that I stated that Nat King Cole was always my favorite singer. Tony commented that from now on, he would have Nat King Cole on when I’m riding with him. I thought that was nice but didn’t really have any expectations going forward.
After a very long week I returned late on Friday evening and was pleased to receive a voice mail message from Tony that I could call him when I had collected my luggage. After getting my bag, I called Tony and we met at the curb in terminal #2. For the next 15-20 minutes I was treated to nothing but Nat King Cole. It was such a pleasant welcome home and I told Tony how much I truly appreciated this special touch. When we arrived at my home I asked Tony how he did that, figuring he had tuned into a satellite radio channel. I was “blown away” when Tony proceeded to eject a CD of Nat King Cole’s greatest hits and gave it to me as a welcome home gift.
